STUDIO PRACTICE

What's an Open Studio? Well, it's a studio "programme" where like-minded folks can explore and engage with the creative process. The objective of the open studio is to contribute to the broader cultural scene by promoting conversations, appreciation for the arts, and supporting local artists. The open studio is a space to interact directly, ask questions, and gain insights into the artistic journey.
My aim is also to foster a sense of connection between the community and artist, and to create an approachable atmosphere – especially for novices. It's a safe, respectful and non-intimidating experience in a friendly environment, which stands in contrast to the potentially daunting feeling that some may experience when stepping into a traditional art gallery. What's the difference between an art gallery and an artist open studio? The former is typically a space where art is displayed and sold (often have a curatorial team |

selecting the works to be displayed), while the latter is where art is created. In 2023, I took a gap year to work on a collection of new paintings and sculptures as well as remodel my apartment into an open, functional space for my artistic practice – to teach as well as host friends at the space for private viewings.
From April 5 2024, you can view my works-in-progress – and a collection of 30-plus highly-diverse, new works in various sizes (up to 120cm), styles and mediums. So, a classroom environment it is not! It's an informal visit to a newfound friend, a social interaction. The atmosphere is relaxed, where spontaneous conversations take place – with light refreshments served, too. To be part of the (private) Open Studio circle, register to be on the guest list from Feb 16 2024. |
